TEAM NEWS: Liverpool recall Gerrard and Balotelli for Chelsea clash

The Reds make seven changes from the team who lost to Real Madrid midweek while Diego Costa returns to Jose Mourinho’s starting XI after missing out against Maribor

Steven Gerrard and Mario Balotelli are among seven changes made by Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers as Chelsea visit Anfield.

Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho also return to the starting XI alongside Dejan Lovren and Glen Johnson.

Joe Allen is the only man to miss out from the team who lost to Newcastle on Saturday, with Emre Can keeping his place in midfield after impressing at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Kolo Toure, Fabio Borini and Adam Lallana must all make do with a place on the bench after starting in the Spanish capital while Javi Manquillo misses out all together.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are able to recall Diego Costa to the side after the Spain striker was rested against Maribor, while Ramires makes his first league start since the 1-1 draw with Manchester City on September 21.

Cesar Azpilicueta returns from a three-match domestic suspension, meaning that Filipe Luis drops to the bench while Loic Remy is also among the substitutes after returning to fitness.
