Montolivo: Balotelli on a par with Tevez

The Rossoneri midfielder says his enigmatic team-mate, who is currently serving a domestic suspension, is just as talented as the Argentine attacker

AC Milan skipper Riccardo Montolivo has claimed that Mario Balotelli is at least as good as Juventus striker Carlos Tevez ahead of Sunday’s Serie A encounter in Turin.

Balotelli will miss the game through suspension, yet the 23-year-old’s absence has not stopped Montolivo from comparing him to his fellow ex-Manchester City attacker.

“Mario and Tevez are at a different age. Mario has yet to fully mature. He’s only 23, though, and has plenty of time,” Montolivo told Tuttosport.

“When talking about their quality, I don’t think Balotelli has any reason to be envious of Tevez.”

Montolivo then went on to discuss the match against Juventus and insisted that Milan have what it takes to trouble the Scudetto holders.

“We all know Juventus,” the former Fiorentina captain stated. “Compared to last year, they now have Tevez, who is their main dangerman.

“I have no doubt that we have the weapons to hurt Juventus. Even though we haven’t been brilliant, we have always been dangerous.

“Of course, we will have to improve at set pieces, which is our weakest point at the moment.”

Sunday’s encounter is scheduled to kick off at 20:45CET.
