The 24-year-old has been given extra time off to deal with the death of his adoptive father, but is still expected to join the club’s pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia
Mario Balotelli has been granted compassionate leave by Liverpool after the death of his adoptive father Francesco.
The 24-year-old was absent as Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers and his squad returned to Melwood for the start of pre-season on Monday.
Balotelli’s foster parents cared for him from the age of three and he will be given additional time off as he comes to terms with his loss.
