Pazzini promises 'angry' AC Milan fans a better season

The San Siro faithful remain enraged by the Rossoneri’s eighth-placed finish in Serie A last term and have not been satisfied with the club’s summer transfer activity

Giampaolo Pazzini has promised AC Milan’s “angry” supporters that they will not be subjected to another dismal season.

The Rossoneri endured a turbulent and trophy-less 2013-14 campaign that ended with them failing to qualify for Europe due to a disappointing eighth-placed finish in Serie A.

The San Siro faithful were left enraged by Milan’s sub-standard showing last season and have not been appeased by the club’s lack of stellar summer signings, but Pazzini has told the supporters that things will get better this term.

“I understand [the fans’ frustration], because I’m also upset,” the striker told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“But this group has a great desire to make amends. We will not repeat last season.

“On August 31 [the start of the new Serie A season], our fans will see a different squad.

“It’s impossible to have another season like [last year]. We are a good team, but must find the right cohesion.

“It’s hard to say what position we can aspire to. But one thing is certain: we cannot finish in eighth again.”

Milan, of course, have a new coach in Pippo Inzaghi and the early indications are that he will deploy two up front this season.

Pazzini, for his part, is in no doubt that he would flourish alongside Mario Balotelli and

“Mario and I can work well together,” the former Inter attacker insisted.

“He likes to move outside the area. I like to be inside the area in order to finish. Therefore, we are complementary.”

Despite the uncertainty over his role this season, Pazzini added that he has no intention of leaving Milan before the close of the summer transfer window.

“No, it’s not an idea I’ve ever come close to having,” he explained. “I’m very happy at Milan. I have always felt the trust of the club and the fans.”
