Balotelli has made 'tremendous growth', says Seedorf

The Dutchman insists the striker has made “incredible improvements” since his arrival at San Siro and says the Rossoneri possess a “rough diamond” in Adel Taarabt

AC Milan boss Clarence Seedorf says Mario Balotelli has shown “tremendous growth” since his arrival at San Siro last month.

The Italy international has scored three times in Serie A since the former midfielder replaced Massimiliano Allegri at the Rossoneri helm, despite question marks remaining over his long-term future at the club.

Balotelli was named in a list of the games top 10 ‘bad boys’ by France Football recently as debate over his temperament persists, but Seedorf maintains the former Manchester City man has drastically improved his behaviour in the past few weeks.

“Balotelli is a sweet guy with me, he’s friendly, positive and has made incredible improvements in his behaviour. I’ve seen a tremendous growth in his game and training since I arrived,” Seedorf told a press conference.

Seedorf went on to hail the potential of January signing Adel Taarabt, insisting the player possesses the raw ability to become a top-class player – provided he keeps up his work ethic.

“He is pure talent. He is young, he has not yet found continuity and confidence at the club, but he came here with great determination. He is a rough diamond and it is important he has the desire not to stop,” he said.

Milan suffered a 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in midweek, but Seedorf was left optimistic by his side’s display as they look to build momentum towards the end of the season.

“We are looking for a continuity of positive things. To play the game against Atletico and see what the boys managed to do shows we’re on the right road and we have to grow more and more,” added the ex-Botafogo man.

“We made a step forward.”
