Allegri bites back at Seedorf

The Dutchman claimed that the Rossoneri coach effectively forced him out of San Siro, but the Italian trainer is refusing to take the blame for the midfielder’s exit

AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has hit back at Clarence Seedorf, claiming that he was not responsible for all of the Dutchman’s “woes”.

The Botafogo ace claimed on Thursday that he left San Siro last year because of the Rossoneri trainer, whom he claimed had no faith in his fitness levels.

However, Allegri has dismissed Seedorf’s version of events, even suggesting that the former Netherlands international, who has been linked with a return to Milan as coach, has contradicted himself by admitting that he featured in all of Milan’s most important games.

“There’s an old saying by [former Italian Prime Minister] Giulio Andreotti: power frays those who don’t have it,” the 46-year-old coach told reporters on Friday. “And the Milan bench puts pressure on those who don’t have it.

“He said that I played him in the important games, meaning I trusted him. So, I don’t believe that I was the cause of all of his woes.”

Turning his attention to Saturday’s crucial Serie A clash with Fiorentina, Allegri confirmed that Kaka will definitely start, following the Brazilian’s stunning strike in the midweek draw with Lazio.

“He played a great game,” he enthused. “He is growing and wants to prove that he is a great player.”

Allegri is also confident that the presence of Kaka in the starting line-up will not only bring the best out of Mario Balotelli, but calm the volatile forward.

“Mario’s relationship with referees is improving – he’s showing respect for all of their decisions,” he claimed.

“Mario and Ricky often play well together. The Brazilian is an example for everyone.”

Allegri then revealed that he should soon have injured forward Stephan El Shaarawy available again.

“There’s good news: he’s starting to run again,” he enthused. “After the international break, we will know more.”

Milan currently sit 10th ahead of their meeting with sixth-placed Fiorentina at the Giuseppe Meazza.
