'A Netherlands call-up beckons' – Goal's World Player of the Week Davy Klaassen

Den Haag
0-4 Ajax
Ajax
4-0 NAC Breda

Ajax know a thing or two when it comes to nurturing young talent and they might just have another star on their hands following the emergence of Davy Klaassen over the past seven days.

The 20-year-old midfielder has struck four times in a week to turn heads in the Eredivisie and Godenzonen boss Frank de Boer will be hoping he can continue his purple patch in front of goal when his side face AC Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Goal’s Yanick Vos says: “With captain Siem de Jong still injured, coach Frank de Boer has given Ajax youngster Davy Klaassen a run in midfield.

“The 20-year old rewarded his trust by scoring three beautiful goals against NAC Breda at the Amsterdam ArenA on Saturday.

“It was the third time in a row (also against Barcelona and ADO Den Haag) that he has played a great match and the media in Holland are already talking about a Netherlands call-up. There is no doubt he will start on Wednesday against Milan at San Siro.”

Congratulations to Davy Klaassen, Goal’s 239th World Player of the Week winner!
